Adventures in the great state of Iowa!!!

March24

There are a few must see sports in Iowa! There are many places to go visit in Des Moines. An interesting place to go is the capitol building. There are many educational exhibits to see. You can also climb up a ton of stairs to go walk around in the dome. A little known fact is if u drop a penny from the top and it lands on someone it can kill them. That’s not very comforting. If your the kind of people who are big in their history, the Living History Farms is the place to visit. You will learn much about the early history of Iowa and their way of living.

Many known teenagers of Northwest Iowa like to play sand volleyball and go tubing down the river. It is a relaxing yet fun way to spend with friends. There is also a part of the river that is really deep and you can climb up a bridge and jump off! Exciting!!

There are other things that my friends and I like to do on weekends. During the end of summer and beginning of fall when the corn is nice and tall, there is a corn maze that we go to and run around in and get lost. The purpose of the corn maze is to find mailboxes with a hole puncher in it. Each holepuncher has a different shape and we have to go around finding all of them. It’s alot of fun.

Another popular northwest Iowa activity for teenagers is on Sunday nights we go to Sioux Center and cruise the loop. There is always alot of people and some pretty sweet cars and it’s always alot of fun. We meet many random people and have a good time with our friends. It’s an easy way to stay out of trouble unless you speed. The town is always packed with cops ,and last summer they tried shutting it down. It wasn’t as fun as other summers, but we still made it fun somehow.

These are a few examples that northwest Iowa teenagers like to do to have a good time. I would like to hear about what other kids in other countries do, so feel free to write a comment.

*WHY WE LOVE MOMS*

March16

Mom and dad were watching TV when Mom said,”I’m tired, and it’s getting late. I think I’ll go to bed.”  She went to the kitched to make sandwiches for the next day’s lunches.

Rinsed out the popcorn bowls,

took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening,

checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer,

irond a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieves left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book bakc into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, addresses and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grovery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brusthed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, “I thought you were going to bed.” “I’m on my way,” she said.

She put some water into the dog’s dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.

She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV’s, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. “I’m going to bed.” And he did…without another thought.

Anything extraordinaty here? Wonder why women live longer..?

CAUSE THEY ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL….(and they can’t die sooner, they still have things to do!!!!)

My Blog is Interesting

March10

I have to write about why my blog is interesting for the march 2010 blog challenge. I dont think my blog is interesting, but I have a few posts and a pet that are funny and cool. You all have to check out my power of observation quiz. Some of the questions it asks are things that we deal with everyday we just don’t notice it. I also have a pretty sweet pet Tiger named Pounce. He’s pretty cool, but not all it showed up so you cant feed him. Well those are some reasons why my blog might be a little interesting, but I’m not a very creative person.

Stupid Criminals

March3

There are many criminals out there who are stupid. We hear of many stories of how they tried to rob a store and the whole thing was recorded on tape. When we think of criminals we would think they would be super smart, but I will tell you some instances where maybe they arent.

An ex-con allegedly tried to rob two people in New York, police said, but didn’t notice his intended victims were police officers — in uniform. Police said 33-year-old Jermaine Washington allegedly was so intent on robbing someone Saturday that he pulled a fake handgun on the two armed police officers as they walked through Riverside Park, The New York Daily News said. “It was stupid criminal tricks,” a police source said. “The guy didn’t even look to see who was coming.” After Washington allegedly pulled his fake gun, the two officers drew their real weapons and Washington surrendered after a short but tense standoff.

A man driving a stolen car that went into a ditch flagged down the wrong person for help.
Dean Gangl, 40, of Richmond, Minn., unwittingly asked an off-duty sheriff’s deputy to help him pull the vehicle out of a ditch along Benton County Road 4 west of Foley, Minn., Sheriff Brad Bennett said.
The deputy, who came upon the stranded motorist at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday while he was on his way home, noticed that the vehicle in the ditch matched the description of one reported stolen hours earlier in St. Cloud. The deputy radioed to dispatchers, who confirmed the man was driving a stolen car, Bennett said.
The deputy arrested Gangl and found that he was in possession of a white crystal substance. Gangl tested positive for methamphetamine, Bennett said.He was taken to the Benton County Jail and charged with being in possession of controlled substance and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

I heard on the radio once where these two men stole twinkies from a twinkie truck. They were soo smart that they left a trail of twinkies. The cops followed the trail and found the two men sitting behind a tree eating them. Wow so smart!

Sounds like we have some super stupid criminals out there.

Basketball State 2010…On the Prowl

March3

Next week our guys basketball team gets to go to state. It’s gunna be super awesome and I cant wait! When we go to state it is always so much fun because we get to spend time in a hotel with our friends. There is always great fun times in those hotels.

We have a game on Monday, and if we win we will play Thursday and Friday. The downer is though that if we win on Thursday we are having a half day of school on Friday, so that would mean we would have to come back up. Thankfully my parents are super awesome and are gunna let me skip that day to stay down in Des Moines. It would be a waste and who wants to come back anyways. We would miss shopping and that would be horrible.

The games are alot of fun because we get to dress up crazy and cheer on our team. We all get pretty crazy and loud to keep are team pumped.  If we win our first game, we will have to play Des Moines Christian who is ranked above us. For us that is going to be our championship game and it will be intense!

Winter hits hard

February9

This winter has been the coldest and most snowy winter that I can remember, and I love it! I love snow and the things you can do with snow! Yes, it is very cold out and most of the time I am always shivering but it’s totally worth it.

I have done a lot of fun things this winter. The best thing was going up to the black hills with all of my friends. We went skiing for two days and it was awesome! I have recently found out that I am terrible at skiing and snowboarding, but it was still a blast. Hanging out in the cabing was the best part. There were lots of good memories made.

There has also been some downer sides to this winter. This is the first winter and first time that I have gone in the ditch. Once that snow takes control of your car, there is no stopping it. I was able to be pushed out of the ditch by some friends, and my car is perfectly fine so its not so bad.

Christmas is my favorite part of winter. I love getting together with family and having a good ‘ole time. Oh, and of course I love getting presents! This Christmas, by far, was the best. You want to know why? It’s because there was a blizzard on Christmas Day! How awesome is that?

Even though winter is not my favorite month, I still greatly enjoy it. I am getting ready to have hot weather again. I miss the beach and the pool!

Facebook….

February9

Well we meet again! So I’m guessing most of you out there all have facebook. It’s a good way to stay connected with people and find out about a lot of gossip. I find out about who’s dating who and who’s relationship is in shandles just by reading their status. Updating your status is an easy way to draw attention to yourself. I also use it to help me stay in touch with my friends from other states. It’s so convenient because you can just go on that person’s profile and read about what they have been up to. It’s pretty easy to figure out everything about that person with just a few clicks. I am all for facebook and don’t know if I could be without it, but have you ever wondered how dangerous it could be?

I know people don’t think it is because you have to confirm the people you want to be friends with, but you can still see part of another person’s profile without being friends with them. There are people who are creepers and will stalk you, so what I am trying to get at is just to be careful with the information you put on there. If people are looking for someone to stalk, they can easily find you and get a hold of you.

I’m certainly not trying to scare people away from using it because it is a fun thing. There is alot of different types of applications and games you can add to “dress up” your profile. What I am getting at is to just be careful with the information you put on there about yourself.

About me…

February9

Hi my name is Christina. I am senior in high school. Blogging is definately not something I am good at. I am not creative at all nor am I good at thinking of things to write about. I guess though I will have to give it a try, so here goes nothing.

I’m going to start off by telling you about my family. I have eight people in my family. I am the oldest of five children. Having younger siblings can sometimes get out of control and really noisy, but it’s still alot of fun.

I have many things that I enjoy doing. I love playing sports! It is one of my most favorite activities. I play softball for our high school. I’ve started varsity for two years in left field. I love playing in the outfield. It is alot of fun to catch pop flies and making a diving catch is a thrilling experience and puts a huge smile of your face. I also enjoy volleyball. I started playing volleyball when I was in fifth grade and kept playing until sophmore year. It’s a super fun sport to play. I still play quite a bit especially in the summer, because then I get to play sand volleyball!!!

There are many things I love to do. I love to hang out with my friends! They complete my everything. It’s so much fun to go shopping, watch movies, and just hang out with them. The night normally is always filled with laughter. I also enjoy dancing and singing to all the latest songs.

Well I think thats enough to know about me. I will catch ya’ll later.
